Abstract EN

The researcher in this study have tackled some samples of the seat toilets and water drainages, those were uncovered within the course of excavation in a number of Iraqi ancient sites, particularly those came from the Akkadian sites, making a comparison study with some other samples dated to a different periods of the Iraqi history.

In the study we’ll see that these toilets had developed within the succeeded periods, such the old Assyrian period as they turned to be a precise and efficient systems to drain the heavy water out of the residential buildings in a safe way through the pottery pipes those were extended under the floors of the buildings.

Regarding the toilets, we would confirm that the archaeological excavations in Mesopotamia have uncovered a number of these developed toilets, particularly, in Tell Asmar of Diyala in central Iraq, the referred to samples were often found outside the dwellings in the streets were the excavators found pottery jars and containers to keep the water in and to practice the abolution in such places , after using the toilet.

The importance of the research is to make a response of some scholars those think that such systems were originated from somewhere outside Mesopotamia, Afghanistan as the referred to.

The samples we’ve referred to in the study confirmed the Mesopotamian origin of these toilets such as many other achievements fulfilled in this ancient part of the world.
