Abstract EN

An experiment was conducted to study the olive bark beetle (neiroun) response to detached olive branches located in different sites in relation to the olive parent tree.

Theses were inside the tree canopy, fissured branch, against the tree main trunk, at the middle distance between the trunk and the periphery of the tree canopy, directly under the peripheiy of the tree canopy and away from the tree canopy.

The experiment was carried out during November 1992, January, April, May and August 1993 to study the effect of the date of cutting on the olive neiroun response to the branches.

Results showed that the scolytid was highly attracted to the branches located inside the tree canopy and against the tree main trunk after two weeks from the date in which the branches were cut.

This attractiveness was high during April, May and August, but very low in November and no attractiveness was observed in January.
