A phyllody disease of faba bean {Vicia faba L.) caused by Mycoplasma-like organisms (MLO) has been recorded in Hadhramoul Valley.

The most characteristic symptoms on diseased plants are the transformation of most or all tlie flowers into green leaf-like structures with little or no seeds formed.

Basal shoots may proliferate and ramify excessively, leading to a characteristic witches broom growth.

Electron microscopy revealed Mycoplasma-like organisms in the diseased plants but not in the healthy plants.
