Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the impact of chain of command and the span of control on decision-making at the Ministry of Interior and National Security in the Gaza Strip.

The study was adopted the descriptive analytical approach and used a questionnaire as a main source of primary data collection.

The study was used a stratified random sample consisted of (328) employees who hold a supervisory job such as head of department and higher.

The most important results of the study :There was a statistically significant impact of the chain of command and span of control on decision making at the ministry of interior with a percentage of (47%).

The remaining percentage (53%) was attributed to other factors that may influence decisionmaking such as different political changes.

The study came up with many recommendations mainly: Enhancing empowerment by reducing centralization, providing broad opportunities for delegation of authority, and the participation of workers in decision-making.

Rewriting the job description commensurate with the restructuring and clarifying the authorities, responsibilities and span of control.

Reconsider the effectiveness of the level units in the organizational structure.

Develop management information systems, to increase the ministry ability to identify and predict problems before they occur
