Abstract EN

Pubertal growth estimation is essential in formulating effective orthodontic treatment plans.

The reliability of two maturity measures, dental maturation and chronological age, in pubertal growth estimation has been investigated.

The sample of the study consisted of 244 Iraqi adolescent orthodontic patients (132 females and 112 males) aged 10-16 years; every patient had panoramic and true lateral radiographs.

A new system has been developed, based on evaluating the individual’s dental maturation using the panoramic radiograph, and presented in a chart form and computerized form (on a disk) to be used clinically for pubertal growth estimation
