Abstract EN

The current study concerned on presentation development of the higher education sector in Algeria in its various aspects, human and structural aspects, etc.

The seventies period is the actual beginning of the development of this sector quantitatively.

The last decade is also the most important in terms of achievements and doubles the number of students, teachers and educational structures available thanks to the efforts made by Algeria, which has succeeded.

But despite the positive results achieved by the higher education system in Algeria, however, the latter still suffers from several problems, the most important of these problems is the high rate of educational losses from the failure, and the imbalance between types of education and economic needs.

Under these imbalances recorded, Algeria has been implementing a new university reform (LMD) since 2004, it aims to create a new university characterized by modernization.

More than ten years after the application of this reform, remains in front of the higher education system in order to achieve high efficiency and effectiveness the challenge of access to the preparation, composition and development stocks of human capital, be productive in all disciplines in order to achieve a qualitative leap on the level of quality.
