لم تنل كتب الآداب العناية الكافية من الباحثين و الدارسين، بالرغم من ثرائها العلمي و تنوعها الأدبي، و امتدادها لحقب زمنية مختلفة، كذلك معالجتها لمختلف القضايا العلمية و الدينية و الأدبية.

فكان لثراء المادة فيها، و مكانتها التأريخية، و إغفال الباحثين عنها دافعاً للوقوف على مصطلحها، و المؤلفات التي كتبت فيها، و أسباب التأليف، ، فضلاً عن الإشارة لما حوته تلك الكتب من فنون.
