Abstract EN

The problem of food security is one of the most important problems facing the Arabic nation.

It may be due to the direct effects of its economical, social, ecological and political aspects.

The statistical data on the production and consumption of the food products point to the big gap food existing.

This gap is steadily increasing despite the increase in production ,due to the fact that the increase in production is far less than the rates of increase in population growth.

The existing economical changes, the international tension and rush towards the natural resources, make it a necessity to link the Arabic needs, for achieving the Arabic economical cooperation and integration, which assures the Arabic national strategic security.

Food security represents one of the priori- ties in cooperation and linking the common needs.

The present study, to illustrate the strategic importance of the agricultural sector, is presenting information on the Arabic food security situation, through production, self sufficiency, and food gap data on the main food products.

For directing the attention the available natural resources in Sudan, the paper is discussing the available resources at Nahr El Niel State (one of the states neighboring Egypt.) The resources discussed include, available land, water resources, climate and the crops that could be produced.

It also discussed the passivity's for cooperation in agricultural production and the possible role for that in achieving the Arabic food security
