Abstract EN

Zakat is one of the pillars of Islam, imposed by Almighty Allah on his servants who are able to pay it according to specific conditions to selected number of people who are in need of it, specified in certain percentages.

Allah has prescribed Zakat for great gesture and noble purpose.

Recent economic studies have proven that Zakat has crucial role in pushing the wheel of economic development forward, also solving some of development problems, so Zakat is the economic solution for many problems and crisis that hit the financial systems in many countries.

This topic is concern with the study of Zakat and its role in achieving economic development, which considered being the foundation of achieving a comprehensive development.

This study has an aim of explaining the role that Zakat is playing in affecting the economic and social variations, which has become a significant source of financing in the middle of resources scarcity.

So collecting Zakat and the distribution of it’s percentages to the needy has become an obligation on the state, and that what has happened in the period when Sharia law was implemented in the Islamic world.
