This study tried to answer the following two questions: (H How prevalent are common misconceptions about psychology among Jordanian high school teachers? (2) Do teacher’s meanscores on the test of misconceptions of psychology significantly vary with varying number of psychology courses taken at the university level, degree earned, and teacher sex? To fulfill these, a test consisting of 60 items related to misbeliefs about psychology was administered to 304 (115 males and 189 females) high school teachers in the city of I rid.
Subjects were asked to mark each item as true, false, or uncertain.
Analysis of responses indicated that 40% of the items were labeled common misconceptions.
Moreover, results revealed significant main effects of: number of psychology courses taken al university level, degree earned, and sex, on mean scores on the test of misconceptions of psychology.
