With their 23500 ha, the Daïa-Saïda Mountains have a rugged relief and it is located about 25 km west of the city of Saïda (capital of the province in Algeria).
The forest vegetation is very representative of the thermophilic groups of western Algeria, dominated by Aleppo pine and Berber cedar but with a remarkable bushy undergrowth.
The factors of disturbance are many, some known and common throughout Algeria notably the Mediterranean region as fires, clearing, erosion, overgrazing and illegal cutting but another factor of degradation is specific to this region, this factor isn’t known and less studied which is the forest pre-management, that has caused considerable damages to the forest formations in the region.
This study highlighted the negative impact of this work on the forest formations of this area.
The study of the forest formations dynamics in the Daïa-Saïda Mountains through the processing and the interpretation of two LandSat satellite images (1987 and 2015), is the purpose of this paper.
The results obtained, affirm the regressive dynamic of the forest formations with the increase of scrublands and deforestation combined with a remarkable regression of the forests.
The northern part of this zone is the most affected by this phenomenon with a very large denuded surface due especially to the repeated fires that has affected it.

Avec leurs 23500 ha, les Monts de Daïa-Saïda ont un relief accidenté, situées à environ 25 km à l'ouest de la ville de Saïda (chef-lieu de la wilaya).
La végétation forestière est très représentative des groupements thermophiles de l'ouest algérien, dominés par le pin d'Alep et le thuya de Berbérie mais avec un remarquable sous-bois buissonnant.
Les facteurs de perturbations sont multiples, certains connus et communs de toute l’Algérie voir la méditerranée comme les incendies, défrichement, érosion, pacage et coupes illicite mais un autre facteur de dégradation spécifique a cette région est peu connue et moins étudier qui est le préaménagement forestier, qui a causé des dégâts considérables aux formations forestières de la région.
Cette étude a mis l’accent sur l’impact négatif de ces travaux sur les formations forestières de cet espace.
L’étude de la dynamique des formations forestières des Monts de Daïa-Saïda à travers le traitement et l'interprétation de deux images satellites LandSat (1987 et 2015) avec l'élaboration de la carte de changement, est le but de cet article.
Les résultats obtenus permettent d'affirmer la dynamique régressive de la forêt dans cette zone avec l'augmentation des matorrals et des zones dénudées combinée avec une régression remarquable des forêts.
La partie nord du massif est la plus touchée par ce phénomène avec une très grande surface dénudée due aux incendies répétés qui l'ont affectée
