Abstract EN

In the name of Allah, the most merciful, most compassionate, peace and blessings of Allah be upon His messenger, his household and companions.

This research is titled: The Verses of the Good Tidings in Surat Al-Baqarah and Their Significance to Muslim Preachers (Dawah Study).

The study analyzed the verses of Quran which contained the words “the good tidings”, which are four, and I have divided the study into four chapters where each chapter discusses a verse: - The first chapter: ﴾And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow.

Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness.

And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally.

﴿(Al-Baqarah: 25).

- The second chapter: ﴾Say, "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought the Qur'an down upon your heart, [O Muhammad], by permission of Allah, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers." ﴿(Al-Baqarah: 97) - The third chapter: ﴾And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, ﴿(Al-Baqarah: 155) - The fourth chapter: ﴾Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish and put forth [righteousness] for yourselves.

And fear Allah and know that you will meet Him.

And give good tidings to the believers.

﴿(Al-Baqarah: 223) A description of the Surah and its name will be presented as well as the virtues that can be deduced from it.

Also, the study demonstrates the reasons behind the revelation of each verse in addition to various interpretations of selected authors (Mufassirun), and the lessons, which are deduced from the Surah, that preachers can benefit from.

As a result, it was concluded that giving good tidings falls under “the good saying” which, in fact, we are ordered, by Allah, to do ﴾And speak to people good [words] ﴿(Al-Baqarah: 83).

Moreover, giving good tidings was one of the prophet’s commandments, peace and blessings be upon him, where he used to instruct his messengers by saying: "Make things easy and do not make them difficult, cheer the people up by conveying glad tidings to them and do not repulse (them).” It is also worth to mention that conveying glad tidings is one of the most loved deeds to Allah, a happiness that you give to the heart of a Muslim with which you implant hope and cleanse the dust of desperation.

And that is recommended to any preacher who aims to succeed in his dawah and to every Muslim individual that would like to follow the teachings of his beloved prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
