Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the impact of dust storms on eye diseases in Riyadh.

In order to achieve the objective of the study, the analytical descriptive method was followed.

The data of the dust and sand storms in Riyadh were collected and analyzed during the period (2001-2016).

The researcher conducted a field study to identify the opinion of ophthalmologists on the impact of dust storms on eye diseases, eye disease symptoms as a result of facing the dust storms, as well as methods of prevention of eye diseases resulting from facing the dust storms.

The questionnaire used as a study tool, and the study population consists of (145) ophthalmologists from the hospital staff of the Ministry of Health, while the sample of the study consisted of (26) ophthalmologists were chosen by random way.

The study found that the phenomenon of dust storms intensified during spring and summer.

There is also a significant correlation between the frequency of dust storms and eye diseases.
