Abstract EN

The aim of this research is to study the developments in oil prices during the period from (2000-2018), which were interspersed with periods of rise and fall of oil prices, And a study of the most important factors affecting them, and how it affected the economies of the rentier countries and Algeria among them, As oil is the main source of its revenues, as well as to reduce the role of producing countries in influencing prices, Which gave the opportunity to consuming countries, Producing countries became hostage to those who control oil price.

The research concluded that there is no alternative to comprehensive development to break the rentier economy dilemma and to maintain sovereignty and national security.
