Today the media seeks to explain the phenomenon of religious extremism by shedding light on the work of armed organizations in exploiting young minds and persuading them to join armed groups for political or religious reasons.

In this study we will discuss in detail the strategy adopted by armed Islamic organizations to attract young people in the new media applications, and to identify the reasons that led to this behavior through a semiotic analysis of the documentary “Jihad Selfie”, which chronicles realistic stories of a group of young people targeted by the organization of the Islamic state "Daech".
