Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to discuss the approach proposed in Functional linguistics to the structure and use of Arabic and the epistemologically valid opportunities it offers for improving the way in which this language should be taught.

The questions to be answered in this respect are: (a) Which cognitive and analytical tools did Functional linguistics provide the Moroccan- Arab student? (b) What is the contribution of this theory in the exploration of the functional-structural properties of Arabic? More specifically, which role Ahmed MOUTAOUAKIL’s work has played (and is still playing) in the implementation of the linguistic thought and methodology in the Moroccan universities and its increasing dissemination in the universitiesof the Arab world?
