تتناول الورقة البحثية بالدراسة المدينة العتيقة بقسنطينة للوقوف على عناصر و أشكال التراث المبني للمدينة العربية الإسلامية من خلال شواهد و مباني تاريخية عكست مستوى القدرات الإبداعية التي ينطوي عليها تقنيا تنظيما و تخطيطا بأبعاده الدينية و الثقافية و كذا مدى التفاعل القائم بين النشاطات الإنسانية المختلفة للحفاظ على معالمه بغية نقلها للأجيال الصاعدة و حيث تعرف المدينة تدهورا مستمرا لإطارها المبني و نوعية الحياة الحضرية فيها جراء العوامل الطبيعية و فعل الإنسان.
فما هي مميزات المدينة العتيقة ؟ كيف يمكن حماية و تأصيل خصوصياتها في إطار التنمية المستدامة ؟ هل يمكن مصالحة الماضي العمراني بحاضره لاستشراف مستقبله ؟
Abstract EN
This paper treats the ancient city of Constantine to identify the elements and forms of built heritage in Arab-Muslim city through historical monuments and constructions reflecting the creative abilities of the technical, organizational, and cultural dimensions, to bequeath to future generations.
The city is experiencing a regression of the built environment and the quality of urban life, due to natural and human factors.
What are the characteristics of the ancient city? How can we protect it in the context of sustainable development? Can we conciliate the past with the present to explore the future?

Cet article traite de la vieille ville de Constantine pour identifier les éléments et les formes du patrimoine bâti dans la ville arabo - musulmane à travers des monuments et ouvrages historiques reflétant les capacités créatives sur le plan technique et organisationnel, ainsi que ses dimensions culturelles, en vue de le léguer aux générations futures.
La ville connaît une régression du cadre bâti et de la qualité de la vie, dues aux facteurs humains et naturels.
Quelles sont donc les caractéristiques de la vielle ville? Peut - on la protéger dans le cadre du développement durable? Peut - on concilier le passé avec le présent pour explorer l'avenir?
