Abstract EN

This study aims at analyzing the problem of excess liquidity in Algerian commercial banks and the need to employ this surplus in investments, taking into account the reconciliation between liquidity and profitability to achieve the maximum profit within acceptable risks and to maintain adequate liquidity.

The difference between the total deposits at the Algerian banks and the total loans granted by the banks is a problem that should be solved due to the fact that these differences reflect criticisms that do not bring added and profitable value to the bank.

The study analysis was based on Al Baraka Bank of Algeria and ‘’Societé Générale Algerie Bank’’, by assessing and analyzing their liquidity and profitability ratios.
