The eighth of May 1945 is one of the most important landmarks in the history of Algeria, because it was the end of a historic phase and the beginning of a new phase.

The atrocities committed against defenseless civilians have surpassed all human perception.

Thus, monitoring and categorizing these violations in time, place and responsibility put the system of values and French slogans at stake and hold the moral and legal responsibility of the official state that oversaw these violations in order to drain wealth and harness the energies to build glory.

The welfare of French colonial society was done at the expense of the Algerian people.

So, how did the massacres of May 8, 1945 constitute a decisive step in fueling the national spirit and in thinking of armed struggle for liberation from colonialism ?
