The study aimed to identify the relationship between the motivation for free reading and the quality of life in a sample of 70 secondary students in Buraidah, and to detect the existence of statistically significant differences between the average scores of the sample in motivation for free reading and quality of life according to the variables of achievement and participation In the challenge of reading in Arabic.

In this study, the researcher used the correlated comparative descriptive method.

The questionnaire of motivation for reading (Al-Nassar et al.

, 2006) was used after re-adjustment and the quality of life wellbeing for secondary education students after amending and re-adjusting the quality of life standard for university graduates (Mansi and Kazem, 2010).

The current study achieved many results, some of which: There is a significant positive correlation between motivation for free reading and quality of life.

There are also statistically significant differences between the average scores of the sample in the quality of the total life and the quality of education and study due to the variable of achievement in favor of female students of high achievement.

The study revealed significant differences between the average scores of the sample members in the quality of the total life and some of its dimensions and the existence of statistically significant differences between the average scores of the sample in the motivation for reading in most dimensions due to the variable of participation In the challenge of reading Arabic in favor of the group of participating female students, while the study did not reveal the existence of statistically significant differences between the average scores of the sample in the motivation to read the dimensions attributed to the achievement variable.

Based on the results of the study, the researcher concluded with a number of recommendations.
