Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the relationship between the concept of social self and psychological compatibility among the hearing-impaired practicing adaptive sports activity.

The sample of the study included athletes at the level of different sports clubs for the deaf and dumb in the Wilaya of Algiers who are practicing different sports.

The study aimed to reveal the differences in the two previous variables according to the type of sport practiced individually or collectively.

The total number of the participants of the study was (90) individuals randomly selected.

The research tool consisted of a test to measure the characteristic of the concept of self and another test of psychological compatibility.

Among the most important findings of the study are: - The existence of a correlation between the concept of social self and psychological compatibility among the hearing-impaired practicing adapted of sports activity.

- There are statistically significant differences in the concept of social self among the hearing-impaired practicing adapted sports activity and in favor of practitioners of collective sports.

-There are statistically significant differences in the psychological compatibility of the hearing-impaired practicing adapted sports activity and for the benefit of practitioners of collective sports.

From the findings of this study, the researchers developed a set of recommendations and suggestions including: proposing sports programs to promote the concept of self and psychosocial compatibility among the hearing impaired and encourage them to engage in sports activities, the need to focus on the psychological and mental aspects in training disabled athletes, so that, coaches should pay more attention to this aspect during the planning of training units, paying more attention to the different adapted sports activities and use them as a means of guiding and controlling the behaviors and emotions of individuals with disabilities, in addition to providing support and possibilities for the centers and the clubs of people with disabilities
