Language drills are considered as an important part of the curriculum,they submitted in the competency Jbased approach techniques, qualitative changes which touched their form and méthod of execution ,changing them from their traditional form to problematic situations.

The aim of this study is to reveal how much these situations are used in the design of language drills within activity booklets.

The research leaded to many important results ,the most important one is that the drills are new in their philosophy, but remained traditional or semi-traditional in their preparation and the question asked is why? Keywords: language Drills; competency-
