Science fiction emerged as an independent literary genre in the Western environment at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

The latter is the golden age of this type of literature.

If science fiction has made its way in to the Western environment, it is still in the Arab world.

It suffers from marginalization and humiliation.

It is nothing more than stories for children to entertain and entertain.

In an attempt to acquaint the Arab reader with the science fiction, this paper contains some of the definitions attributed to this type of literature, as well as its types and characteristics.
