The patent in the field of medicines is considered a means to protect pharmaceutical inventions and this patent represents the most important intellectual property rights that we bring through organized effort.

Therefore, the TRIPS Agreement assumed this type of property rights, and established special provisions guaranteeing protection for this type of invention.

As Algeria seeks to join the world trade Organization, the legislator is required to keep pace with these developments although the Algerian legislator did not make a provision for invention in the field of medicines, this type of invention benefits from the protection stipulated in the ordinance 03-07 on patents.
