The Relationship between Egyptian women's information seeking behavior about covid19 and their perception of risk

The study investigates the relationship between health information seeking about Covid19 pandemic by Egyptian women and the level of their perception of risks, using a questionnaire (N=450).

Trust in the crisis parties, mechanisms of feeling well and self-efficacy were tested.

The results found that most of women showed a growing behavior to seek information, and the official WHO page and the Egyptian Cabinet page on Facebook were the most informative sources for follow-up on virus news, and the preventive procedures to face the virus were the most information they sought to know.

The study also found that the credibility of the posts spread on social media has declined compared to the pages and websites of the official authorities on the Internet.

Women showed a high level of risk perception regarding the spread of the virus, a strong behavioral intentions to avoid infection, and decreased mechanisms of self -efficacy towards the pandemic.

It concluded that there are weak positive correlations between the level of information seeking behavior and the level of risk perception, affected by the level of trust in the parties of the crisis, and the level of self-efficacy of respondents.

There were also positive correlations between the level of interest in following up the pandemic information and the level of behavioral intentions to deal with it, and also found a positive correlation between the level of credibility of information sources regarding the crisis and the level of confidence in the parties of the crisis
