The role of social media in influencing the educational process for Egyptian university students

The study aimed to identify the role of social networking sites in influencing the educational process for Egyptian university students, and to analyze ways of communication between them and their professors through these sites, and the dimensions of benefit from them.

This study belongs to descriptive research and the researcher relied on the survey method, in a survey method With the sample, the researcher relied on the questionnaire tool and the sample size reached 400 items, where it was applied to four universities (Cairo, Al-Azhar, Al-Nahda, and Kafr El-Sheikh) distributed equally by 100 items each, and the application was during the period from 1/3/2019 to 1/6/2019.

, And the most important findings of the study were:
1-Political issues came in the forefront of topics that youth prefer to discuss on social networking sites with a percentage of 46.8% , news topics came in second place with a percentage of 42.3% , cultural issues came in third place with a rate of 40.8% , and educational subjects came in fourth place with a rate of 31.8% .

2-That (knowledge and learning) came in the forefront of the order of the most important motives of the respondents using social networking sites with a percentage weight of 32% , then (communication and social interaction) in the second place with a weight of 23.4% , then (participation in and follow-up to public events) in the third place with a percentage weight 20.3% , then (leisure and entertainment) ranked fourth with a weight of 14.7% , and finally (choice and control of the means) with a percentage weight of 9.6% .
