Abstract EN

This study examined the beliefs of female English language teachers at the secondary stage related to homework in terms of: the impact of homework in supporting female students' learning, effective homework characteristics, and the impact of homework in developing students' personalities, and examine teacher practices in terms of: the goal of imposing the assignment, and the amount of effort needed to accomplish homework.

To achieve this purpose, the researcher used a questionnaire, and the study concluded that there is a lack of knowledge, lack of commitment to maintain effective homework standards, which does not enrich female students learning to master the foreign language skills.

The areas of weakness far exceeded the areas of strength, and the results highlighted a significant contradiction between the female teachers' beliefs related to homework and their practices.

These results have reinforced the need to add a course about effective homework.

The female teachers should be trained by workshop of homework, how to set goals, plan workload, monitor and evaluate homework, and provide feedback in a manner that supports the learning process.
