Abstract EN
This contribution proposes to show how Albert Camus in the short story “Le Renégat ou un esprit confus” (The Renegade or a Confused Mind) develops a reflection on the subject of writing based on myths that have marked literature.
Starting with the “motif of the speaking skull” borrowed from the tradition of the Middle Ages, Camus poses the problem of speech and silence.
Indeed, by grafting the motif of the speaking skull onto that of the myth of the solar deity, Albert Camus, who built his entire narrative on this language that speaks in a skull, seems to redefine man’s relationship to writing and language
