Russian-Chechen conflict: ground realities call for decisive action

The Purpose of this study is to identify the reasons behind the Russian-Chechen conflict.

It also takes into account the rise of nationalism in the post communism era, as a catalyst for the conflict in Chechnya and (North Caucasus).

The study showed, as well, that the violence and counter violence is in vain, Therefore, Russian must aim at meeting the Chechen aspirations without sacrificing its vital interest in that region (North Caucasus) at the same time the Chechen should realize the changes in the international arena especially after September11, 2001.
