A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to find out the prevalence of fungal infection in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, the clinical presentation of fungal infection and the common fungal organisms during the period from March 2002 to March 2013 in Ibn Sina central & teaching hospital and AL-Madinah poly- clinic in AL-Mukalla city , Hadramout , Yemen.

Three hundred and twenty patients with chronic rhinosinusitis were included in the study.

All patients underwent nasal endoscopic examination, CT scan, maxillary sinus surgery, biopsy and fungal culture.

Out of 320 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, 32 (10%) had fungal infection.

Twenty patients were males and 12 patients were females.

The majority of patients belonged to the age group of third and fourth decade.

The majority of fungal organisms were Aspergillus fumigates (68.75%), followed by Aspergillus Niger (12.50%) and the remaining were Aspergillus Flavus mucormycosis and candidiasis.

CT scan homogenous opacities were noted in (56.25%).

The endoscopic findings showed (31.25%) of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, (43.75%) had chronic rhinosinusitis with bilateral nasal polyposis and (25%) with unilateral polyposis.

In conclusion, the prevalence of fungal infection in patients with CRS was (10%).

The most common affected age groups were third and fourth decade.

Male predominated .

The most common fungal organisms were Aspergillus (87.5%).

CT scan, nasal endoscopy, histopathological examination and fungal culture have made the diagnosis easier.
