Limnological studies of fresh-water ponds in Hadhramout south-east Yemen III-Phytoplankton composition of three fresh water ponds in Hadhramout coastal region

hree fresh-water ponds in the coastal region of Hadhramout south-east Yemen were selected and studied for their algal floral composition.

The ponds were surveyed and sampled seasonally during the year 2012.The results had shown that, there were 44 taxa belong to five divisons; they are 17 chlorophyceae, 13 Myxophyceae, 11 Bacillariophyceae, 2 Rhodophyceae and 1 Dinophyceae.

Generally, the three investigated ponds were much similar in their algal floral composition, as they present throughout the year seasons and only slight differences were noticed in the density of the taxa in them.
