This article aims to shed the light on one of the components of the process of teaching/ learning of foreign languages which is “the linguistic mistake” which concept remains relatively ambiguous.

This is due to two causes; from one hand, we find the inevitability attributed to it and from the other hand, we find its complex structure especially to someone who tries to manage it.

That’s why we tried in this article to answer some key questions regarding this concept in the process of teaching/ learning of foreign languages.

So, how can we define these linguistic mistakes committed by the learners? What are their causes? What are the situations given to them in the process of teaching foreign languages in Algeria?Is there a relationship between the error and the way we remedy it?
