الملخص الإنجليزي

The study aims to identify the effect of self- questioning strategy in the achievement of oral reading for the 5th year, primary stage female pupils.

To achieve the study goal, the researcher adopted an experimental design, where class (A) is for the experimental group (30) female pupils who will study reading according to the above mentioned strategy, and group (B) is the control group (29) pupils who will study reading according to the traditional strategy.

The study sample was (59) female pupils in total.

Equivalence of age, time, parents' educational achievement, IQ, and scores of previous year are confirmed.

In order to analyze and get the results, the researcher used T-test of two independent samples, T- test of paired samples, Chi square test (χ2 test), items discrimination coefficient, equation of difficulty coefficient, and Pearson coefficient.

It is found that there was no significant of statistical difference at the level of (0.05) between the average posttest scores for oral reading of the experimental group who studied according to self- questioning strategy.
