The current research is an extracted part of the researcher's doctoral thesis and is tagged with (the effectiveness of an educational design according to the cognitive theory of achievement and the habits of mind among fifth-grade literary students in the subject of history) submitting an abstract for this research is part of the actual procedures that have been taken to seek to identify : -.

the effectiveness of the comprehension monitoring strategy in the literary achievement of fifth-grade students in the subject of history for the purpose of verifying the goal of the research, the following null hypothesis was developed : - there is no statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the average scores of the experimental group students who studied the history subject with the comprehension monitoring strategy and the average scores of the control group students who studied the same subject in the usual way in the post-achievement test the research sample consisted of (60) female students distributed over the two research groups of (30) female students for each group, and the experimental design with partial control was chosen to conduct the experiment whose internal integrity was verified by performing parity and controlling the influencing extraneous variables such as (chronological age, level parental education, pre-measurement for the use of habits of mind, previous level of achievement in history, level of intelligence, teaching and class schedule) as for the research tool, it was represented by the numbers of an achievement test consisting of (40) paragraphs divided into two questions, the first question consisted of (30) paragraphs of the multiple choice type, and the second question consisted of (10) paragraphs of the essay questions, and its validity and reliability were verified.

, and it was applied after completion of the experiment, which showed the results to: - there are statistically significant differences between the experimental group that studied according to the comprehension monitoring strategy and the control group that studied history in the usual way in the post-achievement test.

-in light of the results of the research, the researcher presented a set of recommendations and, in order to complete the scientific research, she suggested conducting a group of research and subsequent studies.
