The number π occupies a prominent place in the constellation of number sciences.
The aim of this paper is to retrace the fate reserved for it by textbooks from primary to qualifying secondary (baccalaureate) through the college cycle, in Morocco.
There is a discontinuity and an inconsistency between the three cycles about this number.
The impact of such a rupture on the mastery of the number π is a loss of energy and overall understanding which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the teaching of this notion or even that of mathematics or even of the school system in its together.
الملخص FRE
Le nombre π occupe une place prépondérante dans la constellation des sciences des nombres.
Le but de ce papier est de retracer le sort qui lui est réservé par les manuels scolaires depuis le primaire jusqu’au secondaire qualifiant (baccalauréat) en passant par le cycle collégial, au Maroc.
Force est de constater la discontinuité et l’incohérence entre les trois cycles concernant ce nombre.
L’impact d’une telle rupture sur la maitrise du nombre π est une perte d’énergie et de compréhension d’ensemble qui réduit grandement l’efficacité de l’enseignement de cette notion voire celle des mathématiques ou même du système scolaire dans son ensemble.
