Herbal remedies are now associated with safety, in contrast to synthetics, which are seen to be harmful to persons and the environment.

this investigation aimed to test in vivo the effectiveness of herbs essential oils on oral bacteria.

the antibacterial activity of myrrh (Commiphora molmol), thyme (thymus vulgaris l.), sage (salvia officinalis L.), chamomile (Matricaria recutita L.) and green tea (Camellia sinensis) essential oils (5 mg oil / 100 ML water) dilution against total bacterial counts in saliva was studied.

the counts of streptococcus mutans and lactobacillus rhamnosus were investigated.
