الملخص الإنجليزي

The current study aimed at investigating the interaction of (152) secondary stage students of Petra District with English speaking tourists.

As far as I know, this is the first study to be conducted in Petra about this specific topic.

Two methods were employed to collect the relevant data; a questionnaire and speaking and listening tests.

The Input, Interaction, and Informal Leaning Setting approaches were used together with the Statistical Package for Social Science for the purpose of processing and analyzing the relevant data.

The results showed the following.

First, Petra students' language improved because of interaction with English speaking tourists.

Second, the students acquired new expressions associated with the interaction environment.

Third, there were four types of interaction including face-to-face, the internet, phone calls, and writing letters.

Fourth, all kinds of tourists' modifications were supportive in English acquisition.

Fifth, the level of the students who interact with tourists was higher than those who did not interact. This thesis contained five chapters.

The first comprised a general background.

The second reviewed related literature.

The third chapter explained the design and the methodology of the study.

The fourth analyzed and discussed the study findings.

The last chapter talked about the summary, conclusions, and recommendations.
