The effectiveness of training courses on the use of English language e-content from teachers' perspectives in Jordanian exploratory schools

This study aims at studying the effectiveness of the specialized training sessions on teaching English using computer organized by the Ministry of Education in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its effect on the trainees' attitude towards computer use in education.

The study sample consisted of 280 teachers who were enrolled in the training courses in teaching English using computers.

The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the trainees' attitudes in favor of Bachelor holders comparing with the diploma holders trainees'.

Also, there was a difference in terms of previous experience in computer in favor of trainees who have previous experience in using computers comparing with the average of non-experienced trainees.

The study also showed a difference in the trainees’ attitudes in terms of gender in favor of male trainees comparing female trainees’ attitudes.

The results also showed that trainees' attitudes toward computer use in education became more positive after their participation in such training courses.

The main recommendation of the study is providing the necessary facilities which contribute to the success of such training courses and developing the infrastructure and improving the available resources, particularly online to enhance better education, not to mention providing better hardware and software as well as greatly increased availability of each The study also recommends reconsidering the use of the English language e-content and developing it on clear scientific bases according to the criteria and rules followed in designing the educational software.

It also recommends providing qualified trainers to oversee the implementation of such training courses and providing modern equipment capable of working effectively with any educational software.

As for the teachers, the study recommends enhancing teachers' computer skills and making it easier for them to own their own computers.

The study finally recommends getting benefit from the courses' evaluation and reviewing the assessment's results in order to eliminate the negative aspects and emphasis the positive points.
