Role of ultrasonographic imaging in the diagnosis of rotator cuff lesions of the shoulder joint

Thirty-patients who suffered from shoulder pain with or without limitation of movement of the glenohumeral joint for more than two months’ duration were enrolled in this study.

Ultrasonographic imaging for both shoulders was done for every patient.

The results revealed that there was soft tissue pathology in 28 out of the 30 patients examined (97%) that could not be detected clinically or by X-rays.

We concluded that ultrasonographic imaging was valuable, showing great accuracy in assessing pathological soft tissue lesions of the shoulder.
