Twenty-five (14%) patients presented as emergencies with irreducible inguinal hernia and 15 of them were under I year old, 10(40%) patients of those were reduced conservatively.

There were no mortalities, but the complication rate (excluding recurrences) was 6% for elective cases and 20% (3)for those treated as emergencies.

There were 10 recurrences (5.60%), especially those under 1 year of age, with inguinal hernia, are prone to incarceration.
