As student-centered e-learning becomes more prominent, more and more instructors and students are becoming more involved in both the technical and educational aspects of distance education.

If instruction and delivery are to be understood by all the persons involved, then it is quite important to understand the necessary terms associated with distance learning and distributed learning environments.

A student-centered e-learning requires a dedicated technical team in multimedia and internet, in addition to pedagogical and organizational knowhow based on a distributed learning environment oriented towards social networking technologies, in order to favor personal autonomy and “Personal lifelong e-learning”, as developed in this article.
