Photodynamic therapy is an approved therapeutic modality for treatment of a variety of specific types of cancerous diseases.

In the present study PDT was used as a treatment of induced solid tumour at the hind limp of albino mice using photo sensitizer 5,10,15,20-Tetra(4-methoxyphenyl)porphyrin(TMP) 0.5 mg/kg and irradiated with diode laser at wavelength 650 nm (irradiance 707 mW/cm2).

45 female Swiss albino mice were divided into three groups’ normal group, malignant group and treated group.

Assessment was done by detecting fluorescence emission spectra and spectral line using fluorimeter and Raman spectroscopy technique.

Obtained fluorescence of tryptophan and tyrosine gave higher intensity for tumor rather than normal and reduced after treatment to almost near normal spectra
