The purpose of the research was to find out the Effectiveness of teaching using cooperative learning strategy on the development of critical thinking for students in stage two of basic education.

One Sample consists of (60) students of the first grade of Secondary School, Obour Secondary School who were divided into two groups: an experimental group consisted of (30) students taught by the active learning strategy named cooperative learning and a control group consisting of (30) students taught in the traditional way, and using a strategy based on teaching using cooperative learning, and the test of critical thinking prepared by Jaber ِِِAbdel Hamid and Ahlam Al-Baz (2008) was also applied on both grads.

the results of the study before and after applying the program was: there were statistically significant differences between the means scores for the two groups experimental (cooperative learning) and the control in the critical thinking pre and post-test in favor of the mean scores for experimental group, there were statistically significant differences between the marks of the experimental group (cooperative learning) in the critical thinking pre and post-test in favor of the mean scores for post-test, there is no statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre and post measurements in the critical thinking test for the control group.
