Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate teachers' views about improving reading comprehension skills.

The study adopted the analytical descriptive method, the researcher collected data by using a questionnaire for (30) Sudanese University teachers.

To analyze the data the researcher used the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPPS).

The findings of the study revealed that EFL Sudanese university students encounter reading comprehension difficulties.

In the light of the findings of the study , the researcher recommends that students should be aware of cognitive strategies of reading skills to become effective readers, moreover ,teachers should expose the students to socio-cultural, factual and contextual knowledge of the target language.
