Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify teaching practices for mathematical power operations in synchronous distance learning and its obstacles from mathematics teachers' perspectives during the Covid-19 pandemic in the State of Kuwait.

The study adapted a qualitative descriptive approach based using a quantitative class observation card and personal interviews.

The study sample consisted of (21) Mathematics teachers of public schools in the State of Kuwait.

The results showed that the distance teaching practices of for mathematical power operations came to a high degree.

Where the field of mathematical communication got the highest mean, followed by the field of mathematical reasoning, and after that the mathematical connection.

Among the most important obstacles are the weakness of teachers' ability to design skills for interactive activities, the lack of focus on mathematical reasoning skills in solving problems, and the students' lack of knowledge of the basics of mathematics as a meaningful learning.

The study recommended setting alternative plans for distributing the curriculum to confront crises in order to avoid educational loss in mathematical concepts and skills, especially in the field of mathematical interdependence, and holding workshops on how to apply the principles of effective mathematics teaching, taking into account mathematical connection
