The study aimed to measure the readability level of science textbook among 5th grade students in Kuwait, as well as to explore the relationship between the students' performance and achievement in science.

To achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher followed the descriptive approach.

The study sample consisted of (104) students from 5th grade selected randomly from four public schools affiliated to Al mubark Al kabeer educational district which selected deliberately .

Close test was designed to measure the level of readability consist of eight text of science 5th grade texbook chosen randomly from physical science and earth science units.

The result of the study showed the following: • (%6)of the study sample located at the independent level.

• (%28)of the study sample located at the educational level.

• (%66)of the study sample located at the frustration level.

• The correlation between the readability level test and student achievement in science was weak .

In the light of the results of the study, the researcher recommended to the need to develop reading in general and emphasis reading in science classes.
