Abstract EN

Translating the meanings of the holy Quran into other languages is very crucial and necessary if we are to meet the goals and the intentions of the legislator (Allah) which is centered around proclaiming, spreading and communicating the message of Allah eloquently to people from different cultures, races and languages.

This need becomes more urgent when it comes to addressing Muslim Amazighs.

It should be noted that the Quranic text has its own sacredness and specificity.

Of course its sacredness is evident and unquestionable.

It is specific because it is both a reference and a source of legislation, laws and ordinances.

Each of its terms has a legislating significance and implication that should be taken into account while being translated.

In the light of this, this paper named “hints at the characteristics of Moroccan translation of the meanings of the holy Quran to the Amazigh language: starting points, methodologies and dont's” consists of two parts that are interrelated: a theoretical part which discusses the problematic issue of Quran translation and untranslatability of its terms.

The second part is the main part of this research paper as it puts into practice the theoretical issues discussed before.

The focus of this part is to shed light on the efforts invested by Moroccan Amazigh scholars in making the meanings of the holy Quran accessible to a huge category of their people who find it difficult to understand Arabic.
