Speaking about Arabic letter is wide and complex, because the scholar finds himself in front of several problems related to Arabic language, most important of which is letters and sounds; many sounds are phonetically realized, but we do not find any transcription of them, we mean by this derived letters mentioned by Sibawayhi, emerging from original letters.

Moreover, the importance of letter in making the word and its meaning whether it is written or spoken, trough the characteristics and the meanings of these letters that added to the Arabic word a spontaneous and mystical music as we feel in Arabic poetry or in Holy Quran slow recitation.

This is why, we try trough this study to shed light on derived letters by answering the following questions: - What are the derived letters mentioned by Sibawayhi? And is there any difference between their types and enumeration comparing to those who come after? - What is the difference between original and derived letters, starting from scientific analysis of some sounds?
