Abstract EN

Objective: To explore the anxiety levels in exam situations among female college students at a female nursing college. Methods: The participants were 50 first year, 46-second year, 44 third year and 47 fourth year students.

The Arabic version of the Test Anxiety Inventory was used as a measure of the students' anxiety proneness to evaluative situations such as tests or exams.

One-Way ANOVA and the Scheffe post hoc test were used to analyze the results of the study. Results: Significant differences were found between the scores of the 1st year and 4th year students with the latter displaying higher test anxiety as measured by the Test Anxiety Inventory. Conclusion: Frequent college exams over the years do not have an effective role in reducing test anxiety levels among students.

Psychological intervention and strategies are required in order to lessen the high level of test anxiety for these students
