Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to detect the semantic significance of the component of space (topos) in the work entitled, The Journey of Baldassare, written by Amin Maalouf.

Through the peregrine adventure of the hero, the text exposes a geographical patchwork made up through the relays of the journey.

In the narrative framework, the places traveled form the scenic action, and consequently imbue a panoply of meanings because, in any fiction, everything is a sign, or even a bearer of meaning.

In this perspective, would it be possible to determine semantic strata beyond the narrated? In other words, the place, fragmented by the movement, exposes a network of schemas that interferes profoundly in the signifying construction in both microstructure and macrostructure of the journey.

L'objet de cette étude est de déceler la portée sémantique qu'expose la composante de l'espace (topos) dans l'œuvre intitulée, Le périple de Baldassare, d'Amin Maalouf.

A travers l'aventure pérégrine du héros, le texte expose un patchwork géographique confectionné au moyen des relais du voyage.

Dans la trame narrative, les lieux parcourus échafaudent l'action scénique, et charrient, par conséquent, une panoplie de significations du fait que, dans toute fiction romanesque, tout est signe, voire porteur de sens.

Dans cette perspective, serait-il possible de déterminer des strates sémantiques au-delà du narré? Autrement dit, le lieu, fragmenté par la mouvance, expose un réseau de schèmes qui interfère, en profondeur, dans la construction signifiante en microstructure du voyage et, en macrostructure, celle de l'œuvre.
